Ontario Player Hits Double Win: $250K and $50K in One Week

To be able to win the lottery once is remarkable. To win two times within less than a year? That is just unheard of. Such was what happened to David Glover, a 62-year-old factory worker from Oshawa, Ontario, who has been playing the lottery as part of his morning routine for more than 40 years.

David hit $250,000 playing Instant Neon Casino tickets last summer. It was thrilling — he bought a bunch until the clerk informed him there were three left. The third one was the winner. He was so stunned, he had not even scratched off the value of the prize when the store informed him. Explaining the feeling, he said it was “an amazing and comforting experience”. He first told his daughter, whose eyes widened with shock before the excitement took over.

A few months later, lightning did strike twice. David was walking one day and did his usual routine — he bought four scratch tickets, asking a clerk to hand him one of the “pretty-looking yellow tickets”. This particular one was an Instant Super Strike ticket for $50,000. He had not worn his glasses, so he checked the ticket twice just to confirm that he had won!

When he told his wife of the win, she thought he said $5,000. And then she looked again and screamed, “You won again?”, even their daughter was in on the celebrations. David said the experience was “exhilarating”. David is not going to blow it all on himself. Instead, he will invest the money well, maybe take a good vacation, and give some to his family.
